Steel connection design

Get Every Connection Right Before Steel Is Cut

Unchecked connections mean field misfits, over-designed steel and stalled erection. Our engineers design and check each one to code before release.

Where margin leaks

Connection Errors Cost Margin

Connections are little of the steel weight but much of its cost. Each error means remade steel.

  • Field Fit Problems

    Where margin leaks
Plates, holes and bolts that do not align stop erection on site and burn crane hours.
    What we fix
Every connection checked against the model and member geometry, so steel bolts up.
  • Over-Designed Steel

    Where margin leaks
Oversized plates, welds and bolts add tons and fabrication hours to every package.
    What we fix
Connections sized to actual loads, not rules of thumb, so tonnage and shop hours drop.
  • Failed Reviews

    Where margin leaks
Calculations that miss code checks stall approvals and trigger rounds of RFIs.
    What we fix
Designs to AISC 360, AISC 341, AS 4100 and AS/NZS 1554, so reviews close faster.
  • Late Connection Design

    Where margin leaks
Late connections hold up detailing, fabrication and the whole steel schedule.
    What we fix
Fast, consistent designs that keep detailing, fabrication and erection moving.

What clients ask first

Steel Connection Design: Common Questions

Straight answers from our engineering team. If your question isn’t here, ask us directly.

Ask a senior engineer An engineer replies within one business day.
What does steel connection design include?

Engineered moment, shear, bracing, splice, truss and base plate connections, with calculation packages, connection sketches and typical details, ready for your engineer of record's review and for detailing in Tekla or SDS2.

Which codes do you follow, and who is responsible for the design?

AISC 360, AISC 341 seismic provisions and AWS D1.1 for US projects; AS 4100, AS/NZS 1554 and AS/NZS 1252 for Australian projects. Calculations are prepared for your engineer of record or delegated engineer, who reviews and seals them. Bimgraphix does not stamp calculations; we answer for every connection matching your loads and criteria.

How do you make sure connections are right before detailing starts?

Every calculation is independently checked against the design loads and geometry, then reviewed by a senior engineer. Typical connections are standardized, so designs stay consistent, faster to approve and simpler to fabricate.

Can you keep pace with a large, fast-moving program?

Yes. The team is sized to your program and work is released in batches by area or connection type, so nothing waits for the full set. Fees are priced per connection type or per package and fixed in the proposal with the schedule and revision rounds. You can start with one batch of typical connections to test the fit first.

Is our project information kept confidential?

Yes. We work under your NDA from the first file. Everything we produce, including calculations, models and details, belongs to you, is shared only through Trimble Connect, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore or a secure link, and is seen only by the team assigned to your project.
