Surface CAD modeling
Get Every Surface Right Before Tooling Begins
A surface that fails design review pushes back tooling. We build precise Class-A surface models and check every curve before release, so designs pass review.

Where margin leaks
Surface Rework Costs Your Margin
One poor freeform surface found after tooling means recut molds, rework and a delayed launch.
Surfaces That Fail Review
- Where margin leaks
- Wavy or uneven surfaces fail design review and send models back for rework.
- What we fix
- Smooth, continuous surfaces checked with curvature and highlight analysis.
Scan-to-CAD Errors
- Where margin leaks
- Inaccurate scan conversions produce parts that do not match the real product.
- What we fix
- Scan data rebuilt as accurate surfaces, checked against the original.
Unmachinable Geometry
- Where margin leaks
- Gaps, overlaps and broken surfaces stall CAM programming, tooling and the launch date.
- What we fix
- Watertight, clean models ready for machining, molding and simulation from day one.
Late Tooling Changes
- Where margin leaks
- Surface changes after tooling starts mean recut molds and missed launches.
- What we fix
- Draft, parting lines and manufacturability checked before tooling release.

How it works
From Scan or Sketch to Surface
Every surface is checked for continuity and quality before tooling begins, so molds are cut once.

Share Your Documents
Send drawings, models and specs. We confirm scope, deliverables and dates in writing.
- 02
Build Class-A Surfaces
Smooth, continuous surfaces built from scan, sketch or data, ready for tooling.
- 03
Check and Release
Senior review to ASME Y14.5 and AS 1100, checking dimensions and tolerances against source.
- 04
Support Through Tooling
Fast model edits and surface fixes after each review round until the tooling is approved.
How Much Margin Is Surface Rework Quietly Costing You?
A two-minute Margin Assessment shows where your programs leak, in dollars, and what surfaces right the first time could save.
What clients ask first
Surface CAD Modeling: Common Questions
Straight answers from our engineering team. If your question isn’t here, ask us directly.
What does surface CAD modeling include?
Precise freeform and Class-A surfaces for products with complex shapes, from concepts or 3D scans, ready for tooling, molding or simulation.
Which standards do you follow, and who is responsible for the design?
ASME Y14.5 for US clients and AS 1100 for Australian clients. Design responsibility stays with your engineering team, who approve the final models. Bimgraphix does not stamp or certify designs; we answer for the model matching your inputs, and any conflict is flagged for your decision, never guessed.
How do you verify surface quality?
Curvature continuity is verified with curvature and highlight analysis, and scan-based surfaces are checked against the original data before release.
Can you keep pace with a large, fast-moving program?
Yes. The team is sized to your program and work is released by part, so nothing waits for the full set. Fees are priced per part or per surface set and fixed in the proposal with the schedule and revision rounds. You can start with one part to test the fit first.
Who owns the work, and how is our data handled?
You do. All designs and models we create for you are your property. We sign your NDA before receiving files, exchange them through your preferred platform or a secure link, and limit access to your project team.
