Structural steel detailing
Steel That Fits the First Time, at Any Tonnage
On large programs, one detailing error repeats across hundreds of pieces. Senior detailers check every member and connection, so steel erects on schedule.

Where margin leaks
Every Misfit Costs Your Margin
Steel sits on the critical path. One detailing error repeats on every floor, paid for in refabrication.
Field Misfits
- Where margin leaks
- Holes, plates and lengths that miss by fractions of an inch stop erection and burn crane hours.
- What we fix
- Every member and connection checked in a coordinated 3D model, so erection keeps moving.
Refabrication
- Where margin leaks
- Wrong copes, holes or lengths send steel back to the shop, and you pay for it twice.
- What we fix
- Shop drawings to AISC 303, AWS D1.1 and AS/NZS 5131, so steel is cut and welded once.
Trade Clashes
- Where margin leaks
- Steel that clashes with MEP and architecture forces field cutting and rework.
- What we fix
- Clashes resolved with every trade in the model before release, so nothing is cut on site.
Approval Bottlenecks
- Where margin leaks
- Slow submittals and RFI loops leave the shop idle and push the steel schedule.
- What we fix
- Phased releases and fast RFI turnaround that keep the shop loaded.

How Much Margin Are Steel Misfits Quietly Costing Your Program?
A two-minute Margin Assessment shows where your steel packages leak, in dollars, and what fit-first-time detailing could save on your next program.
What clients ask first
Structural Steel Detailing: Common Questions
Straight answers from our engineering team. If your question isn’t here, ask us directly.
What does your structural steel detailing include?
Coordinated 3D steel models, assembly and single-part shop drawings, erection drawings, anchor bolt plans, DSTV / NC1 CNC files and bills of material, produced in Tekla Structures, SDS2 or Advance Steel to your shop standards.
Which codes do you follow, and who is responsible for the design?
AISC 360, AISC 303, AWS D1.1 and RCSC for US projects; AS 4100, AS/NZS 5131 and AS/NZS 1554 for Australian projects. Design responsibility stays with your engineer of record, who reviews and seals the work. Bimgraphix does not stamp drawings; we answer for every sheet matching your design inputs, and any gap is raised as an RFI, never guessed.
How do you make sure drawings are right before they reach our shop?
Every package is modeled and clash-checked in 3D, checked by an independent checker, then reviewed by a senior detailer before release. Approval comments are tracked to closure, so nothing reaches the shop floor unresolved.
How are fees and schedules set, and can you handle large programs?
Fees and delivery dates are fixed in a written proposal from your scope, priced per ton or per package, before any work starts. Large programs are released in phases by area, sequence or erection order, with the team sized to your schedule. Revision rounds are agreed up front, and anything outside scope is quoted before we do it.
How do you protect our drawings, models and data?
We sign your NDA before any files are shared. Your models, drawings and CNC files remain your property, exchanged through Trimble Connect, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Procore or a secure link, and access is limited to the team on your project.
